Electronics Design Manager, West Sussex

My client, a pioneering robotics manufacturer operating across hardware and software engineering is currently looking for an Electronics Design Manager to join on a permanent basis during a period of exponential growth within the business. The role will involve leading a team of electronics specialists and embedded software engineers through all stages of the development cycle for new products as well as enhancement cycles for existing products.

Key Job Responsibilities for this position include:
*Produce mechanical, electrical, firmware and software designs that are robust, cost effective to produce and use materials and resources effectively.
*Input Electrical CAD designs into Mechanical CAD to ensure that every design and product has a single, complete and accurate Bill of Materials.
*Contribute to production of Mechanical In-House Design Standards, Electrical In-House Design Standards and Software In-House Design Standards.
*Prepare and document test methods together with pass/fail criteria.


Qualifications / Experience
*Electronics Engineering Degree: BSc (Hons) or BEng (Hons) or other relevant qualification
*People-management and Project management skills and experience
*Able to drive and shape the New Product Development cycle (NPD)
*Electronic hardware design, cable design, schematic capture, PCB layout, BOM preparation, EMC compliance
*Experience working with industrial networking including Ethernet & EtherCAT
*Sound working knowledge in C within small to medium size microprocessor systems (ARM STM32, TI MSP430)
*Experience working with TCP-IP, UDP, CAN, SPI, UART, I2C and USB communication protocols
*Working knowledge of Solidworks Electrical, Soldworks 3D and Solidworks mechanical


The successful candidate will take on a hands-on responsibility, spending approximately 60% of their time involved in guiding design activities and 40% on future, strategic development cycles and general and project management duties. You will have great interpersonal skills and be able to communicate regularly with the whole R&D team including software developers, mechanical engineering and product test specialists.
